Butterflies
Butterflies are beautiful from there designs. they live all over the place. They are a part of nature and lots of people like to study about them especially me.
Habitat
Butterflies are amazing insects that can be found all over the world! In fact, they live in most countries except Antarctica because they are cold-blooded creatures and need warm weather to survive.
Features
The adult butterfly has four wings that are covered with tiny scales that give them their colorful and designs. They have six legs, two antennae, a head, compound eyes, thorax, and an abdomen.
Food and Sleep
Butterflies don't actually sleep. Instead they rest, or become quiet and still at night or during the day when it's cloudy or cool. They rest with eyes open, hidden in the bush and hanging upside down from leaves or twigs in trees and shrubs. Butterflies eat nectar from their tongues that looks like straws.
Distance and Speed
Butterflies can fly 4800 kilometers each fall from Canada to Mexico. Butterflies can find their way for a distance of 3000 miles.
Jobs
As adults, butterflies have two basic jobs: to eat and reproduce.
Butterflies don't work together that's why they don't have that many jobs. They are solitary insects.
Colour
Butterflies can be multicolored and they can have all sorts of patterns on them and it makes children like me really interested in them.
Predators
Some of the common predators of butterflies include wasps, ants, parasitic flies, birds, snakes, toads, rats, lizards, and dragonflies.

Butterflies are flying insects with beautiful wings. They start their lives as caterpillars. They all have different patterns and colours. Which makes them stand out.
